Sewage Treatment Process<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sewage from different villages under the Contract will be collected and treated by the following facilities:<\/p>

  • The proposed Po Toi O Sewage Treatment Plant will collect sewage from Po Toi O Village and provide secondary treatment.<\/li>
  • The proposed Wo Mei Sewage Treatment Plant will collect sewage from Wo Mei and Heung Chung Villages and provide secondary treatment.<\/li>
  • The existing Sai Kung Sewage Treatment Works and Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works will collect sewage from the remaining villages and provide secondary treatment<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    After the proposed preliminary screening and degritting process, solids or impurities with a diameter exceeding 1mm will be separated and removed from sewage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Secondary Treatment<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    The sewage is then purified by means of a biological treatment process after the preliminary treatment. The organic matter and nutrient in the screened sewage are further treated in the Membrane Biological Reactor System (MBR). Treated effluent from this process meets 30mg\/L TSS and 20mg\/L Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) standard.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
